Thanks to all the people that responded! I have found someone to take care of Kona and the Casa.

GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OFF GRID HOUSE TRADE…. thirty minutes north of Taos, New Mexico with stunning 360 degree view of mountains
I’m looking for a dependable, honest and caring person to take care of the house and plants (once a week watering) while I’m traveling. The other responsibility is for my very mellow indoor dog, Kona, 17 years old. For this service, I’m offering this small, charming off-grid, alternative energy house free of rent as a trade.
I need someone from around Thanksgiving or Christmas through April 15th of 2011, but can extend it somewhat it in either or both directions.
The person needs to be a nonsmoker and not use perfumes and fragrances in the house.
This is a great opportunity to experience rural, off grid living,
Auto necessary — 4-wheel drive great, but front-wheel drive will do. I use an old Ford Taurus all winter.

I have been long enamored of your juan galan house, checking it out frequently for its sale and completion status. I had considered a trip to the Taos area and was thinking of contacting you to visit your house. I am a transpersonal therapist and your proximity to the Buddhist center has me salivating at the thought of a sabatical in your house next year..Jan-April…The opportunity to stay there rent free and tend to your lovely plants, dog and house, is quite the sychronous temptation. I have experience living on 80 acres with snow and rough roads…and I have some technical skills to maintain whatever might need maintaining. And of course I love animals, nature and simple living. If you were to select me could I rearrange my life in order to do this, I’m not yet sure…I’m sorry I can’t commit at this time…and I still may make a visit …but am wondering what your price is now and what terms you offer as well. I have a lot in FL near the water I am selling and then want something else for vacation for now and full time soon.

Hi Pat, I hope you come to visit. I haven’t increased the price yet — probably in the spring.
Cheers, John
